THE HYMN
is a 2 track single with the songs, “The Hymn” and “Shiny Pretty People”
THE HYMN’s seven minute play brings forth a reckoning of the transformation of childlike dreaming, through to adolescence and into early adulthood. Where will we go, and will all of the imaginations of our entire lives bear fruit? Is our world too sick, and the spirit too tired? Although, one who tends to the seed shall rejoice. We may ponder in contemplation, but is absolution within?

“The Hymn” by Tomy Universe
The rich men stole the water
And they planted all their flowers
Roses red, lilies white and violets blue
They said the world would never end
And they never looked back again
As hellfire burned our beautiful hills of green
The holy heavenly father
He has a mansion on the Switzerland border
Where he slips away
When he needs to hide his wealth
The book he teaches never lies
Except for when he needs the prize
Of lust, of greed, power and freedom
Where is God?
Will I ever know
Will I find Him in the burning fire, or the ice and snow
Where is God?
In our final days
He might have lost his way
Like us not long ago
The kings and queens of glamour
And their golden stolen valour
Blow us kisses from way far
Beyond our realm
The men with guns they never change
And neither does their royal reign
We're kept outside the palace gates
For the stampedes and parades, oh
Where is God?
Will we ever know
Will I find Him in the sky above, or in the ground below
Oh, where is God?
In our final days
He might have lost his way
Like us not long ago
Wherever He is, oh! He can dream
I bet He's dreaming something wonderful
He can dream
“Shiny Pretty People” by Tomy Universe
There is a dreamland just across the clouds
Let the angels guide you through their town
Out on the hillside
Mother Monica you'll find
She drinks her pink champagne in all her rhinestones shining bright
We both dreamt a dream that we could fly
Take me to the land
With all the shiny pretty people
Mother let go of my hand and pray I make it to the steeple
You can't
See it these days with all the thick smoke in the sky
Religiously you fade into the darkness of the night
Laid out on the asphalt of your never-ending life
Palaces on great big hills
Burning in their sacrifice to God
He has nothing much to say these days
He's tired
He has nothing much to say these days
There, in your dreams then
You can have the world
Diamond bracelets glimmering like a million midnight stars
While the golden hour holds your heart
Out on the coastline
All the beauty that you'll find
Promises, imaginations
Lost inside our minds
We've all dreamt the dream one day we'll fly
Oh
Take me the land
With all the shiny pretty people
Mother let go of my hand and pray I make it to the steeple
You can't
See it these days with all the thick smoke in the sky
Religiously you fall into the beauty of the light
Laid out on Carrara marble, what a glorious life
Limestone steps and crystal glass
Shining in their monument to God
He has nothing much to say these days
I think He's tired
He has nothing much to say these days
I think He's tired
